About Me

"A gamer of all trades, master of none."
"I like games!" -Nate
Name: Nate aka Thriftdweller Nate
Retro Collector, Blogger, Convention Promoter, Geek
Medical Professional, Husband and Soon to be father

The reason I started this blog was because I felt stretched many different directions. I had/have many projects going on at once, it's just the way my brain functions. This blog is meant to keep me centred, a place to write down ideas, thoughts and experiences.

"It's easier to reflect on your thoughts and experiences if you can see them in front of you" -Nate

At heart, I've collected retro video games for nearly a decade. This has branched into a video blog with my best friend Lester called Thriftdweller. Together, we've had over 250000 video views and over 2500 subscribers on YouTube. I also founded Retro Gamers Winnipeg, a Winnipeg video game fan group, and with the their help along with the help of 24BitGamer (Ed), we hosted Winnipeg's FIRST retro video game convention called Retro Gamers Unite on April 5th 2014. It was an amazing success for the first year and we're already planning next year. In the mean time I began "Nerd-Crafting" to help raise funds for next year. Until the next event, we'll be planning and attending various functions for the local video game community.

"Better learn balance! Balance is the key"
-Mr. Miyagi

In my personal (real) life, I am a dedicated husband and soon to be father. Along with my career, you'll find some blog entires on my attempt to balance my real life with my video game passion and projects. Hopefully what I write can have some meaning to someone, to inspire creativity or following one's passion.

You'll also notice I love quotes! I may have dyslexic tendencies, but that doesn't mean I can't see the power of words to motivate! So I'll end this with my favourite quote from one of the biggest inspirations of my life...

“Absorb what is useful, Discard what is not, Add what is uniquely your own.”
-Bruce Lee
